Shapeshifter began as a live performance installation (originally called Realness), involving pole, projection, live video feed, and sound, first performed at Vivid Projects, Birmingham, UK, in May 2015, and subsequently selected for Sluice Art Fair at the OXO Bargehouse, London, October 2015. It was originally commissioned by Vivid Projects/mac Birmingham/BFI for the Queer Traces program.
